When Artistic Director Gerald Fagan planned the 2017 Festival, at the top of his list was the extraordinary line-up of Canadian musicians – those who live here, have moved away yet will come home and those who are new to this great country. What better way to celebrate than to have a finale concert bursting with Canadian compositions!
The Bach Festival Mass Choir of over 100 voices, the Bach Festival Orchestra, 4 fabulous soloists – Leslie Fagan, Anita Krause, Colin Ainsworth and John Avey – join MC James Stewart Reaney under the baton of Gerald Fagan, in a gala concert, Sunday July 16th 2:30pm.
Four Canadian composers were commissioned by the Bach Festival to create new works to be premiered at the Gala event! Jeff Smallman, Stephanie Martin, Elise LeTourneau and Matthew Emery were up to the challenge. With the inspiration of our collective heritage, the contributions of new Canadians, the varied geography and landscapes, all on the immeasurable foundation of our first peoples, each composer has created a tapestry that is resoundingly Canadian.
Come celebrate Canada 150 with an afternoon of gorgeous Canadian music!
